{2008 A year in Images}

Whew…my computer is back! Over the past year I have been saving an image from each session to my hard drive to share in this show.  I know I am probably missing a few sessions here, so I apologize if I left yours out.

I also wanted to take a minute to say thank you to all of my clients this past year.  I am truly blessed to have each of you in my life and I am thankful that you chose me to help create the art of your family.  I hope to see you again in 2009,

Press play…and turn up your speakers.  (it will take a minute or so to load depending on your connection speed)  Enjoy!!

{Crash}

First of all, Happy New Year!!  My new year started by attempting to make a slide show of images from 2008 to share here on my blog.  Unfortunately, the reason why this blog post is titled crash is because some of the software on my computer decided to do exactly that.  No problem, I will call Dell right?  WRONG.  After I had to pay them $239 to even talk to me because evidently software is not covered under my warranty and spending HOURS on the phone with them, they decided that the only way to fix my problem was to start over.  Yep, you guessed it-they want to erase everything and start over.  So for the past few days I have been backing up everything I don’t want to lose, emails, documents, etc.  D day is tonight when Dell is supposed to call me back and delete everything.  I sure hope my computer works when they get done with it.  However, rest assured that all my photos are backup up and safe!!

I have been meaning to blog a few images from Kyle and Shea’s engagement session.  These two are absolutely adorable and I am looking forward to the wedding in October.  Shea’s mom and grandmother were both married in the Denmark Lutheran Church near my house and Shea and Kyle are planning a special visit to the church the Friday before the ceremony.  Isn’t that cool!

{Allison}

Allison is a senior at Salina Central and was an absolute dream to photograph!  It was almost like she had done this 100’s of times before.  When Allison graduates, she wants to move to LA to become an actress.  I know that probably is a hard field to break into, but since she is both beautiful and talented I bet she will definitely make it big.  So some day, I can say I knew Allison before she was famous!

{What? I have a blog?}

So….when I decided to take the month of December off, I fully intended to use that time to get some housekeeping things done.  No, no, I don’t mean actually cleaning my house, I meant maybe updating my website and blog header and designing some more sample wedding albums.  You know that stuff I have been putting off for like forever.  AND I fully intended to post some images here that I never got blogged.

Well, I have to admit that something happened to me and I haven’t been able to focus on my work.  Yes…I have been bitten by the bug that has affected so many teen girls lately and even their moms.   One of my ‘09 brides (hey Jenni) told me about some vampire books she had been reading that were really good.  Vampires are like the total other end of the spectrum from my normal genre of Christian Amish romance novels so I didn’t know if I would be interested.  After looking into the books I realized that these vampire books were unbelievably popular and since I live in the middle of no where I had no clue they existed.

So anyway, my addiction started innocently enough.  I picked this up at Wal-Mart last week.

I decided to only buy book 1 to see if I like the series.  Well since I devoured the first book in one afternoon I was really mad I didn’t buy them all since it takes an hour to get to a book store.

HEEEEELLLLLLOOOOO Amazon.com!

I finished #2 in two afternoons…

Almost done with #3…

Can’t WAIT for #4.

 So….In case you wondered, I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth.  I just have my face stuck in a book.  I will be done soon-at this rate, probably by Friday.

{White Winter}

About a month ago I hosted a White Winter Signature Portrait Sessions and I wanted to share a few of my favorites from the day.  I am so excited about all the cute Christmas cards going out this year!!

Press play below.  The show will take a minute to load so be patient.  Turn up your speakers and enjoy!

You can also see the show here  http://denasorensen.com/slideshows/WhiteWinter/

P.S.  You must have the latest flash player to view the show.

{December 2008}

As you may have read in the header portion of my blog (does anyone read that?), I will be closed the month of December.  If you already have a December session scheduled, don’t worry, you are safe!  All Christmas card and portrait orders that have been paid for have been placed and should be available for pick up late next week.

I am currently accepting appointments and scheduling wedding consultations for January, so please give me a call if you would like to set up an appointment.

I hope everyone has a very happy holiday season and a very Merry Christmas!

{Krista and Travis}

Kritsa and Travis were married last weekend in Belleville, KS.  It was a beautiful and warm November day!  When I first met Krista earlier this year, she was patiently waiting for Travis to return from his tour of duty in Iraq.  It was just so obvious how much Krista loved Travis and later when I finally got to meet Travis at their engagement session it was obvious the feeling was mutual.  Travis and Krista are a couple who are just so genuinely in love and are the best of friends.

 Krista made such a beautiful bride and had such gorgeous flowers!

Krista and Travis had a great wedding party!

Finally, the reception was held at a beautiful community center in Cuba, KS.  Krista had a sparkler entrance planned  and the stairway made the perfect backdrop for the shot.

Thanks for letting me be part of your special day.  It was really beautiful!

{Newborn Baby R}

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing newborn baby R who was an absolute doll!!!  I really loved this shot of her because after a week or so, babies lose their “curl”.  She kind of went into this position on her own and it made me wonder if maybe she spent a few months tucked this same exact way in the womb.

Baby R was such a good sleeper!

And finally, I loved this one because of her chubby cheeks….she is just oh so sweet!

{Newborn Baby C}

Early last week I had the pleasure of photographing 6 day old baby C.  He is absolutely beautiful and has such a laid back personality.   I really love photographing newborns early because they are so sleepy, squishy, not squirmy and oh so sweet!

I honestly don’t know what it is like to come home with a new baby.  I am sure having them photographed is the last thing on a new parents mind.  But I promise it doesn’t have to be a stressful experience.  First of all, I come to you (unless you live really far away).  There is plenty of time for feeding, burping and cuddling.  And for the most part you just get to sit there and relax (except for the feeding and burping part)!  Believe me, this is MUCH more relaxing than trying to photograph a one month old who has discovered how to flail his arms!

Another great reason to photograph your baby when it is only a few days old is because they change really fast and believe me, you will forget how sweet the umbilical cord and teeny tiny fingernails are.

Can you believe I actually had TWO newborns this week…check back in a couple of days!

{George}

Pooooooooor George!  Life was good for George with his human Justin until a girl named Laura came along.  Now he plays second fiddle…..poor George.

Dog

Just kidding! :)  I think George thinks Laura is pretty cool.  Here is a shot of the adorable couple who are getting married in March.  I can’t wait!!
