{On Vacation}

John and I are headed to warmer weather!!  For some reason that doesn’t sound good, just hot.  I never ever win anything and by some miracle I won a vacation to Scottsdale, AZ.  Since I am from the Phoenix area, it was extra exciting because I get to see my family.  It should be a busy trip though.  I am photographing a wedding on Saturday and have a few other session lined up as well.  But it won’t all be work, we are going to Vegas too!  We will be gone July 25th-August 4th and I will be unavailable by phone or email.  I will return all messages when I return.

And since I can’t post without posting some images….

Here is Miss R from the Fair

{Teryn and Neil}

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of being the wedding photographer for Teryn and Neil in Russell, KS.  It was a beautiful day and the whole wedding was amazing!

Here is one of my favorite shots of the bride and groom together.

The whole wedding party was a blast.

This was my first time shooting at St. John’s Lutheran Church.  The stained glass created such a beautiful atmosphere for the ceremony.

 And of course I had to share the first kiss as husband and wife.  (Oh and for my photographer friends, this was my first wedding with the D3 and there was seriously no noise at ISO3200-I actually added grain b/c I dig it.)

This shot was taken in the “Secret Garden” in the center of the church.  I loved the location!

 The reception was decorated so beautifully.  I loved the butterflies gracefully perched on branches with the jade plant.  The plants and butterflies have a very special meaning to the family and were perfect!

 This is a shot of my amazing wedding assistant/second shooter Melissa.

Because I know she hates having her picture taken I will post one of myself in the interest of equality.

{Lovies}

Lovies….that’s what my friend Susan calls them.  You know, it’s that special blanket, stuffed animal or toy whose mere presence relaxes and calms children down.  I love incorporating the “lovies” in my sessions because it just captures a moment in time.  Here are a couple of the “lovies” that I captured lately.

So I know there is no “lovie” in the shot below, but I wanted to share it because I loved it.  These girls were so adorable!

{Random Thoughts}

Today marks the start of the Lincoln County Fair.  This year is really special because it is the 100th anniversary.  Tonight there was a parade down Main St. in Sylvan Grove to celebrate the fair.  The parade was organized by my good friend Crecia and she did an AMAZING job.  There were almost 100 entries!!!!

Here is my favorite entry.  I guess you could call it a “Cattle-ac”, driven by Toby M. owner of the Sylvan Sales Commission.  Aren’t those horns a hoot! Hmmmm…..I wonder if he really drives it around like that?  According to the people I was standing by he does.

 But the award for the best looking parade entry goes to…….

Okay, maybe I am a little partial.  That’s my hubby John. :)

While I am rambling….once a week it is like Christmas at my house.  I always get excited to see the big brown truck come up the drive with my boxes of prints.  It is always fun to open the boxes and see what cool things have come for my clients.  Today I had lots of prints, collages and even a press printed book (which is super cute!!).  Once all the prints have been opened and arranged in stacks by families, I have to go through each order to make sure they are complete and everything looks absolutely perfect.  Then it all gets packaged up for delivery.

Here is something else the big brown truck left for me the other day.  This doesn’t mean much to non-photographers, but all I can say is W-O-W.

{Austin}

My session with Austin was a couple of weeks ago.  I know sometimes senior portraits are the last thing a guy wants to do, but Austin was a great sport and I think we got some really cool stuff.  Here are a few I picked out from his session to share.

Going to this bridge was Austin’s idea.  The shots here turned out really cool.
