{My New Favorite Subject}

As a photographer, I have to admit I don’t often have favorite subjects.  I have favorite sessions, or favorite images, but I really love to find the beauty in each individual, family or couple.  But I do have to admit, that in the past several months I have had one little subject on my mind and I can’t stop thinking of all the different ways I am going to photograph them.  I am so excited for my first session with this little person and I can’t wait to capture all the little details of their existence.

That’s right everyone….I am having a baby!!!    In the interest of my privacy and safety, (lots of Internet weirdo’s out there) I will not be posting much about the details, but I did want to share one image of the little person that I just can’t wait to meet (and photograph)!!

{Timothy and Amy}

This past weekend I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Amy and Timothy.  These two are absolutely adorable together and so in love!  The entire wedding was absolutely gorgeous and the music was amazing.  But what I will remember most about the wedding day of Amy and Timothy is how important their faith is in their relationship.  It is truly a beautiful thing.

Amy and Timothy were married at the Beverly Community Church in Beverly, KS and during the ceremony I had a fun time watching the ring bearer and flower girl.  I am sure it is so hard for little ones to stand still for an entire ceremony.  I loved the faces the flower girl made and the ring bearer didn’t look too sure about standing up in front of all those people!

Before the ceremony I asked Timothy to hold the first kiss for a few seconds so I would have a chance to get a good shot of it.  He had NO problems with that request.

Since both Amy and Timothy both come from farming backgrounds, it was only appropriate to throw wheat after the ceremony.  Somehow I ended up with wheat in my underwear??

The reception was held at the Rolling Hills Zooin Salina, KS.  The museum and conference center was absolutely beautiful and was the perfect setting for the evening.  Here are a couple of my favorite shots taken outside the conference center.

At the conclusion of the evening, we ventured into the museum for a few fun shots.  First, one to celebrate Amy’s Kansas heritage.

The honeymoon suite??

And finally, my favorite shot from the day.

{Brrrrrr}

So when the plane landed on the snow covered ground in Wichita on Thursday the pilot says, “the current temperature in Wichita is zero degrees fahrenheit.”  All I could think about was the fact I had no coat.  After pulling my suitcase through the snow and scraping off my car with my hand I was pretty cold!  It definitely was a shock to go from 70 to 0 degrees.

Imaging USA was awesome, but you would think at a photography convention I would have used my camera more than one day.  Before the convention started, Susan and I took a day trip to Sedona (in northern Arizona) and these are the only photos I took the whole trip.

When we were driving to Sedona there was a photographer who was along side of the road hunched over a cactus with her rear up in the air.  We thought it was really funny so we had to do it too.

These next two shots were taken by Susan.

{Imaging USA}

Every year the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) puts on a convention called Imaging USA.  This year thousands of photographers are heading to Phoenix for the event that is a mix of education and fun.  I think education and learning from other photographers is extremely important to improving my craft.  Since it was in Phoenix, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to go because it gives me the chance to visit my family and hey let’s be honest you can’t beat a free place to stay (thanks mom and dad!!)  What makes it even more fun is that my friend Susan from KC is coming with me.  I will be gone the 7th through the 15th so the studio will be closed while I am gone.   Warm weather….here I come!!

Before I leave I wanted to share a couple of images from my last session with Jamie.  I think this is her 4th session we have had in the past year since she was my senior rep from Lincoln.  If you know Jamie, you know she can’t stop smiling and it is actually hard for her to take a serious picture.  And normally I love her smiling photos best-but this time I think these two are my favorites!

{2008 A year in Images}

Whew…my computer is back! Over the past year I have been saving an image from each session to my hard drive to share in this show.  I know I am probably missing a few sessions here, so I apologize if I left yours out.

I also wanted to take a minute to say thank you to all of my clients this past year.  I am truly blessed to have each of you in my life and I am thankful that you chose me to help create the art of your family.  I hope to see you again in 2009,

Press play…and turn up your speakers.  (it will take a minute or so to load depending on your connection speed)  Enjoy!!
